Muslim organisations Friday took out a march in national capital demanding a “stern action” by the government against terrorist camps operating from Pakistan.
Members of All India Shia-Sunni Front (AISSF), All India Muslim Unity Front and All India Babri Masjid Re-Building Committee also asked the government to stop all negotiations with the Pakistani government till it does not hand over those behind the Mumbai carnage.
“We are requesting the government to stop all peace talks with Pakistan which is providing shelter to those involved in the killing of innocent people in India,” AISSF General Secretary Z Ahmed Chamman told reporters.
In a memorandum to President Pratibha Patil, the demonstrators urged her to order the armed forces to eliminate terror camps operating from the Pakistan.
Accusing USA of following double-standards in dealing with the terror menace to India, the Muslim leaders demanded it to take “post 9/11 like action” against Pakistan to wipeout terrorism from the region.
The demonstrators burnt an effigy of Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari for “patronising” terror elements in his country.
The protesters also observed silence to pay homage to the victims of Mumbai carnage which claimed 183 lives including Police officials and security personnel.
