NEW DELHI, DEC. 6. On the occasion of the 12 anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid, the All-India Muslim Unity Front (AIMUF) today held a demonstration-cum-dharna at Jantar Mantar here, demanding that the mosque be rebuilt at its original site in Ayodhya. Addressing the demonstrators, the president of AIMUF, Mohammad Younus Siddiqui, said the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Bajrang Dal and the Shiv Sena together demolished the Babri Masjid in violation of the Constitution, law and order and judiciary. Besides seeking a ban on these political parties and cultural organisations, the AIMUF in a memorandum to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, demanded the rebuilding of the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya and arrest of those responsible for its destruction.

Meanwhile, the All-India Students’ Association (AISA) along with the Forum for Democratic Initiative, Saheli, and Amar Ekta Manch took out a march from Mandi House to Parliament Street today to protest against the demolition of Babri Masjid and the Gujarat genocide.

The AISA national secretary, Ravi Rai, said: “The Congress-ruled United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre has betrayed the anti-communal mandate of the electorate by not taking any action against the senior BJP leaders for their role in the demolition of the Babri Masjid.”
